Place of Work: Institute of Animal Reproduction and Food Research, Olsztyn

Keywords: Computational Biology, Vitamin D, epigenetic memory

Research Focus:

During my master’s degree, I focused on investigating the landscape of epigenetic regulation in epidermis development in mouse embryos. During this time, I developed skills in analyzing RNA-seq and ATAC-seq data, I found it the whole process was interesting and gained more insight into addressing challenging biological questions, this experience excited me to further pursue studies in the same field, and I found my current lab now (Carsten’s lab) pique my interest. In this lab, we are doing the intervention study about vitamin D, basically healthy people are supplemented with a high, safe dosage of vitamin D at different time points, this range of time points helps us understand how vitamin D works in the body, and regulates and influences in molecular level, interestingly our cells can “remember” if the person take vitamin D consistently over time, this phenomenon known as Epigenetic memory. However, the process of how it remembers all the cues was given by vitamin D is still a puzzling process. How our body can remember intake vitamin D and what is significant changes in our body will be my PhD journey all about. Answering these questions will be my ultimate goal of my doctoral research.
